Joshua Millard, guitarist



Combining creative vision, expressive depth, and technical virtuosity, Joshua Millard belongs to a select group of musicians who uphold the highest standards of artistic responsibility.   His imaginative concert programs have consistently earned raves from audiences and critics alike.  Past performances have been hailed as being “...Truly stunning…. A tremendous display of artistry” (The Oberlin Review), as well as possessing “....Verve, energy…. technical security and intelligence" (La Guitarra Sacramento).   

Maintaining an active performance schedule, Joshua has appeared in concert in various settings and venues across the United States. As a guest soloist, he has been featured with the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, University of Akron New Music Now, Bridgewater State University Orchestra, URI Philharmonic, and the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble.   As a solo recitalist, he has performed at such prestigious venues as Boston's King's Chapel, the Eastman School of Music Guitar Festival, the Providence Atheneum, Stonehill College, the Southeastern Guitar Congress, CSU Sacramento, University of Louisiana, the Harvard Faculty Club, Bryant University, Syracuse University, MIT Chapel, and Nichols College.   As an improvisor, he has been featured at quirky locations such as Nelson’s Candy Shop, White Bird Gallery, Marty’s Driving Range, and Nashua’s Country Tavern.  Additionally, he has premiered several contemporary works for solo, chamber and guitar with large ensemble.

Joshua holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, University of Akron, and the Eastman School of Music.   He currently teaches at UMASS Lowell.
